Cameron accuses police of ‘demonising’ middle class boozers
Conservative leader David Cameron has accused police of “obviously demonising the middle classes to a
certain extent and targeting people who are fundamentally law-abiding”.
Mr Cameron seems to be saying the police are pursuing “easy” cases of drunk and disorderly behaviour or drunk driving among middle class people, no doubt after too many gin and tonics, and not doing enough to tackle “difficult” cases - presumably the same offences committed by those awful working class people after too many cans of cheap lager.
Mr Cameron was a member of the notorious Bullingdon Club whilst at Oxford, along with London Mayor Boris Johnson and Shadow Chancellor George Osborne. The 200-year-old drinking and dining club has its own uniform, and rule which forbids members to leave the table to vomit.
In the newly published Cameron on Cameron, Mr Cameron claims that “hardworking, law-abiding people” - presumably he means middle class - have lost confidence in the police because of the “target culture” and excessive paperwork imposed on them by Labour.
Mr Cameron criticises the culture of the police service: “I think there is a growing sense among the police that unless a new law is passed for a specific offence, then they can’t do anything about it.
“I think this is very worrying and has been partly caused by Labour’s legislative obsession.
“We need a more hands-on approach - we need the police to get in there and sort things out, and arrest people selling drink to people under the legal limit, and arrest those who cause trouble in those places when they’re drunk.
“Off-licences, shops, convenience stores, supermarkets, pubs, clubs. We shouldn’t underestimate what could be done by the police if they were freed from doing all this paperwork.”
Mr Cameron has pledged to increase taxes on alcopops and use proceeds to cut duty on other drinks.

He’s a complete idiot. Has he ever even glimpsed reality outside of his toff bubble?
“obviously demonising the middle classes to a certain extent and targeting people who are fundamentally law-abiding”
Fundamentally? You either broke the law or you did not. Middle classes don’t have a right to police leniency just because they earn more and drink fine wines.
Middle classes are fundamentally law-abiding? So what about the working class??
