Olympics: Boris promises Team GB parade in London
Conservative London Mayor Boris Johnson has said there will be a celebration to congratulate British
medal-winners when they return to London after the Beijing Olympics.
With sailor Paul Goodison winning another gold medal for Britain, the thirteenth, in the laser class at Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre, a celebration of Team GB’s impressive Olympic medal haul has met with general approval.
Mayor Johnson said: “To reflect the excitement and pride of the country in our athletes’ superb victories, we’ve set a date in the diary now when we can cheer all our heroes and honour their extraordinary feats at this summer’s Games.”
