Home Secretary Jacqui to ban Glitter from foreign travel
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has said she will impose a Foreign Travel Order on disgraced former rock star and convicted paedophile Gary Glitter. She wants to ban convicted sex offenders like Glitter from holding passports so they have to stay in the UK indefinitely.
She said: “I want Gary Glitter to be controlled whilst he’s here and I don’t want him to be able to go anywhere else in the world in order to abuse children”.
Glitter, 64, had been on flights back to the UK but complained he was suffering a heart attack at Bangkok Airport, delaying his return.
If the alleged heart condition proves false and he is able to travel, he will be required to sign the sex offenders’ register immediately upon return and will be kept under constant supervision. He is likely to be banned from contact with children and use of the internet.
